Gene Expression Data Analysis using Fuzzy Logic

Contact:             Habtom Ressom , Rency Varghese

Project Summary

With the wealth of DNA microarray data available, we have the ability to attempt to reverse-engineer the genetic network from spatio-temporal data. Many methods have been proposed to find likely gene interactions. One such method is Fuzzy Logic. Using a fuzzy model of gene interaction, we can apply a brute-force algorithm that tests all combinations of genes if they fit the model and ranks them according to model error. Those combinations with the lowest model error are most likely to be related. We are currently investigating methods to increase the computational efficiency of the algorithm by using clustering as an intrface.
